BEGINNING ON CALIFORNIA ARTS DAY


California Arts Day is October 3, 2008

VCAC coordinates and promotes a countywide Arts Week celebration that coincides with California Arts Day. Artists and arts organizations are encouraged to schedule activities during this ten day "week" and VCAC publishes a full color calendar of events and a separate pull-out section in the Ventura County Star.

POETRY OUT LOUD
Student Recitation Competition

Poetry Out Loud is a national recitation program sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, in which high
school students present an oral interpretation of a
published poem in a national competition. In California,
the program is sponsored by the California Arts Council. California Poets in the Schools is working with the
Ventura County Arts Council to administer it in Ventura County. Poets are available to assist English teachers
and their students in preparing for the countywide competition. Please visit the Poetry Out Loud web site

Arts Mini-Grant Program

VCAC ARTS-IN-THE-CLASSROOM MINI-GRANTS
Inaugurated in 2004, the Mini-Grant program has approved over 35 classroom arts projects for funding. The mini-grants provide a source of support for the elementary schools to partner with local arts organizations and artists in bringing standards based arts into the classroom.

Artists, are you in need of a way to display your art for an afternoon or just a weekend?

We have 3’ x 6’ panels available that you can rent. They are made of metal wire with
a grid so you can attach your art with an “S” hook and you’re ready to go.
